Meet Dr Bensimon
Transcription
My name is Richard Bensimon. I'm a board certified plastic surgeon. I went to college and medical school at the University of Michigan, and I did my postgraduate surgical training at the Columbia University in New Work, and my plastic surgical training at Montefiore Medical Center in New York.
I was born in Argentina in an outback corner of the northern Patagonia. An interesting irony is that there was an important bridge in our town that crossed a river that looked very much like the Broadway Bridge. And, now, life has brought me to the foot of the Broadway Bridge, our office abuts on the bridge, and it is a very interesting turn of events.
My father was a surgeon in Argentina, and he had the great fortune of being educated by and mentored by famous Argentine surgeon Ricardo Finochietto, American surgeons may know some of his instruments, and I was named Richard after him.
My interest in aesthetic plastic surgery, to a certain point as a surgeon, was the technical difficulty and the necessity for perfection and there's very little latitude for error. The more important aspect about it was the enormous power that it has to change people's lives.
I love the act of surgery, I spent most of my life in the operating room, so I better like it. And I know that what I'm doing is going to have a very, very important positive effect in the emotional well-being and often in the lives of our patients.
